Location

The word “Hylatis” (Υλάτης”) comes from the classical Greek word for forest. According to Greek mythology, Apollo was, among other things, the god of beauty, of music and of forests, hence, since the Hellenistic times (323BC-31BC), the name Apollo Hylatis.

About twenty minutes from Hylatio and three kilometers west of Kourion, there is the Temple of Apollo Hylatis, one of the most important sacred sites in Cyrpus at the ancient times. Archaeological findings show that the adoration of Apollo lasted from 8BC until 4AC. The temple near Kourion took the name of Apollo in 5BC.

We are located at the sea town of Pissouri, a walking distance from the blue-flagged beach. Pissouri is 30 kilometers west of the city of Limassol and in the middle of the Limassol-Pafos highway. The nearest international airport is Paphos, a 20 minutes drive. The better known Larnaka airport is 1 hr drive. Access to Pissouri from either Larnaka or Paphos airports is through state-of-the-art highways.
